After all the hype, the interim lightweight title bout between Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson and the outspoken Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee lived up to its billing. Ferguson, known as the UFC’s top lightweight sitting right underneath McGregor, proved his mettle in a highly-anticipated clash with Lee, who talked up a storm prior to the bout but was unable to pull through when it mattered most.

Though Lee did indeed put up a valiant effort, Ferguson finished off Lee with a triangle choke submission with less than a minute to go in the third round of the main event at UFC 216 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

After the victory, Ferguson called out UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

‘Where you at McNuggets you f**king piece of s**t!?’ roared Ferguson in his post-fight interview. ‘I’m gonna kick your ass! You better come and defend that belt, you better not vacate motherf**ker!’

Although it is unclear when McGregor will be back in the Octagon, he has been rumored to be close to inking a third trilogy bout against Nate Diaz in December. UFC President Dana White has however refuted this claim.

No Nate Diaz for Conor McGregor, says White

White addressed the media at the UFC 216 post presser.

“Nobody’s talked about Diaz – Diaz has never been talked about,” White said at the post-event presser for UFC 216 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “That’s Internet bull(expletive). Tony’s the interim champion, Conor’s the champion. It’s the fight that makes sense.

“It’s the fight that has to happen – it doesn’t ‘make sense,’ it’s the fight that has to happen.”

“We didn’t specifically talk about it, but we talked about it kinda,” White said. “He wants to fight again this year. He went and partied in Ibiza for a while and went back home for a while. You’ve got to let him blow off some steam, and then we’ll figure it out.”
