Its been a while since we saw a good stanky leg KO in the UFC. When Ben Saunders faced Alan Jouban at UFC Orlando, it wasn’t only a great fight but we saw the return of the stanky leg…
Last night (Sat., Feb. 24, 2018) the UFC returned to Florida for UFC on FOX 28 from inside Amway Center in Orlando. Headlining the card was a pivotal featherweight bout between Jeremy Stephens and rising prospect Josh Emmett. There was plenty more on offer though.
Including ex-bantamweight champ and former pound-for-pound number one Renan Barao, fan favorites Ilir Latifi and Ovince St-Preux, and a host of other well-known names, UFC Orlando had everything needed to be a great show.
‘Platinum’ Mike Perry was in front of his home crowd but was upset after being bloodied by underdog Max Griffin. Griffin was awarded the unanimous decision. Then we had Ben Saunders and Alan Jouban in a welterweight burner.

That was pretty damn nasty. Elsewhere on the card, Renan Barao needed a win. Again, perhaps co-incidentally (?) since the USADA era kicked in, the ex-pound-for-pound king looked like a wet flannel.
Brian Kelleher was able to drag the fight through to the end and win a clear unanimous decision on the judges scorecards. There was quite a savage knockout on the prelims, as you’ll see below, with Sam Alvey KO’ing his opponent with one punch.
It was also pretty funny, too:

And good god, did anyone see the murderous beating Ilir Latifi put on OSP? Not only did he nearly KO the taller man with strikes, but Latifi then choked St-Preux out cold. It does appear the referee missed two attempts by OSP to tap out.
