“What a showcase of determination and heart, I take my hat off to [Diaz]. Respect. Took the fight on short notice, against the guy who’s probably the most successful guy right now. [McGregor] is on a run,” said GSP.
There’s no question GSP wasn’t just there to watch all the action like a regular fan. The 35-year old former pound-for-pound great retired from MMA three years ago, ending his career on a 12-fight win streak. Observers say he’s likely to return to the cage very soon however, and that’s probably why he was checking out the competition.
A McGregor versus GSP bout is huge money. It will probably be the biggest bout to be made if McGregor can get past Diaz in their rematch at UFC 202 which takes place August 20 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
You can be sure GSP will be there watching once again.
“Mind-blowing performance. Amazing,” said GSP.
