Herb Dean and Frank Mir Intervene to Separate Warring Fighters and Save the Day at ACB 47…
There’s something about MMA fighters that makes them like to embarrass themselves in public. Kane Mousah and Robert Whiteford had to be dragged away from each other at the ACB 47 weigh-ins in Nottingham, UK, yesterday. You can smell the testosterone from here.
Contrary to common belief, ACB 47 is not an automatic assault rifle. It actually stands for Absolute Championship Berkut and is a Russian MMA promotion. It’s quickly becoming one of the biggest in Europe, alongside the likes of Cage Warriors and KSW.
The company counts former UFC star Frank Mir as their color commentator. The former UFC heavyweight champion is fresh off a KO defeat to Fedor Emelianenko but was sharp enough to intervene when things got a little bit out of hand last night. Veteran referee Herb Dean was also on hand to intervene.
Intervention
Kane Mousah and Robert Whiteford are headlining the main card in tonight’s MMA event in London. Mousah, nicknamed ‘The Danger’ has a record of 10-1, while his opponent, ‘The Hammer’ sits on 14-4. Both are experienced solid fighters and an impressive win tonight could be enough to catch the eye of the UFC or Bellator.
The pressure must be getting to these two guys because in this battle of England vs Scotland tensions have clearly risen. The pair weighed in and faced off, with Whiteford confronting Mousah before even setting foot on the stage.
Then they went eye-to-eye, but Mousah’s hat (probably) accidentally hit Whiteford on the nose. That was like the spark that started World War One and the next thing that happened was the pair lunging for each other. Mir and Dean managed to drag the two men away before they could damage each other. Time for that tonight gents.

Intense
Emotions tend to run high during these events. Weigh-ins and staredowns are another part of the fight game that fans just can’t get enough of. The fight has started for many athletes before they step into the octagon or ring, with many fighters trying to win the psychological battle. Some of the best and funniest are in a video above.
Who can forget that famous brawl between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones? The way Rose Namajunas stared down ‘The Boogeywoman’ Joanna Jedrzejczyk as she recited the Lord’s Prayer? These are some of the most iconic moments in recent MMA history, more exciting even than some fights.
