Jose Aldo has a new scar to add to his collection. The former featherweight champion attempted to avenge his UFC 212 loss to Max Holloway but instead got the same treatment from his rival…

During a packed weekend of action, fans were treated to two UFC events and a Bellator offering in the space of 24 hours. Featuring the hottest lineup of the trio of events was UFC 218.

The card was loaded with talent as the promotion put on their penultimate pay-per-view of the year. Perhaps the biggest talking point of the night was heavyweight knockout artist Franci Ngannou and his murderous KO of Alistair Overeem.

‘The Predator’ is a rising heavyweight prospect and faced his first big test in veteran K-1 kickboxing champion Overeem. The Dutchman, for all his years in the game and talent, could not keep Ngannou from touching that chin.

‘The Reem’ went down in a scary scene, watch below, and right after there’s the r3ecap and video of Holloway/Aldo 2:

Goodnight Reem!

Next up was the main event of the evening, as former and current kings clashed. Ex-champion Jose Aldo wanted revenge after losing his belt again at UFC 212. The man who took it from him, Max Holloway, wanted to repeat the first result.

As it turned out, it was almost a carbon copy of their first fight. Highly exciting, at times back-and-forth, but ultimately Holloway pummeling his way to a TKO win.

Watch on the Twitter video, and there’s an aftermath photo of ‘Scarface’ in the hospital too. Along with his fellow countrymen Charles and Alex Oliveira, Aldo appears to be in good spirits.

Unless his face is just stuck that way. Whatever the case, the guy is a legend in the sport of MMA. But everyone has to go out of the sport, and very few do it in their prime.
