Niko Price Won By Hammerfist Off His Back in Devastating Fashion at UFC Boise in Idaho…
The UFC made its debut in Boise, Idaho last night. It was noteworthy for a couple of reasons. Junior Dos Santos and Chad Mendes both made their returns to the octagon after lengthy spells out with bans, while ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt was also coming back to competitive action.
One of the most gloriously violent pieces of action actually happened in the welterweight division. Niko Price showed the world that you should never rule an MMA fighter out, winning with arguably the KO of the year.
We all love a freakish moment that just makes us stop and say: “Did that really just happen?” Price delivered one of those last night with one of the most epic finishes you’ll ever see – and totally out of nothing. Kudos to the ‘The Hybrid’ who’ll be looking back at this one for a long time.

Insane Finish
Price was coming into this fight against Randy Brown having just won his last fight against George Sullivan. A win was vital to start building up some momentum and driving up the division. The first round was fairly back and forth. Both men had their moments, but Price did enough to win, with takedowns and slams all coming his way.
Round 2 was where one of the most epic comebacks you’ll ever see happened. Price went for the single-leg but had to roll out when he missed it. Brown kicked his legs and started raining heavy punches down on ‘The Hybrid.’ It looked like he was in trouble.
He wasn’t. Suddenly, Price started landing huge hammer-fists from the bottom position. Brown was almost instantly knocked out, but he ate about 6 of them before Herb Dean realized what had happened. It was magnificently violent.
No way. Hammerfists from the bottom. If you were playing the UFC video game and you got knocked out this way you’d throw down your controller and storm out of the room and YOU’D BE JUSTIFIED IN DOING SO. pic.twitter.com/B9Lz67NQai

Video Game Action
This was a proper video game finish. It’s very rare that a fighter finishes their opponent from off of their back. Especially with hammer-fists. This is because it’s difficult to achieve the power and momentum required to smash up your opponent.
Often it’s easier to use your elbows like Michael Bisping did against Georges St. Pierre with some success. That usually causes your opponent’s face to get all cut up and bloody. Once again, it will take something special to KO them.

Brutal Fights
It was a night of a lot of KOs in Boise, Idaho. Sage Northcutt finally got a win in the welterweight division. Maybe ‘The Hybrid’ could be his next opponent? Chad Mendes also won by TKO against Myles Jury, while Junior Dos Santos picked up a decision against Blagoy Ivanov.
One thing is for sure – in this wonderful sport, there is absolutely no predicting what can happen. The most dominant fighter in the world can wind up getting submitted or knocked into another dimension with some technique they’ve never seen before. It’s why it’s so difficult to stay unbeaten in MMA. You have to love it.
