Mike Perry Decided that the Best Way to Teach His Girlfriend a Lesson Was to Stick a Pair of Gloves on Her and Get Her Into a Boxing Ring… Time For Some Classic ‘Platinum’ Punishment…
He might not be the most developed fighter on the UFC roster today, but there’s no doubt that Mike Perry’s personality has helped to make him one a bit of a cult hero. He’s hard as nails and a straight-talker. Perry’s appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast in 2018 also helped him to rebuild his brand, because fans saw the other side of the heavily tattooed brawler.
One of the most well-known members of his crew is the ‘Platinum Princess’, Danielle Nickerson. She’s a professional tennis player and earned her nickname because she’s Perry’s on-and-off girlfriend. They were together for a long time and took a break in their relationship last year.
Now though, they’re back together and Perry has posted some footage of him giving Nickerson some tough love. You can watch the footage below.

Punishment
It’s not exactly clear what happened, but at the beginning of the video Nickerson loses some sort of bet that means she has to get punished by Perry. He gets creative and she has to do an amateur boxing round of three minutes against the UFC welterweight fighter. She’s very game and even takes the time to throw some shade at one of her man’s former opponents:
“I saw this one guy one time, his name was Alan Jouban. He won a decision against Mike and his gameplan was to run like a little b*tch.”
Are we going to get the ‘Platinum Princess’ against Jouban next?
One Round
It might only be one round, but you can see that Nickerson definitely isn’t enjoying it. To be fair to Perry, he’s very controlled and while he does make contact with his girlfriend, he isn’t going out to kill her. She hits him with a few kicks and punches herself. It’s actually pretty cute.
About three minutes into the video, Perry steps up the pressure and drops her to the canvas a couple of times, using his weight and technique to throw her off balance. Eventually, with about ten seconds left of the round, Nickerson just can’t take anymore and the bout ends. It’s still more entertaining than that Francis Ngannou fight against Derrick Lewis.

Comeback
Another good takeaway from this video is that Perry has full use of his arm again after getting it snapped by Donald Cerrone back in November. After dropping three losses in his last four fights, Perry really needs to be careful about his next fight. A win is absolutely essential if he wants to trigger any momentum in his career.
It’s worth remembering that he’s still only 27 years old, but his position in the organization could become untenable if he loses another fight. Just ask Jason Knight who was cut last week. ‘Hick Diaz’ became a fan-favourite for his all-action style, but after four straight losses, he was out. The writing is on the wall for Perry.
