UFC Uruguay Went Down Last Night in Montevideo… Check Out Some of the Highlights From a Night of Action in South America…
Last night Valentina Shevchenko reconfirmed her status as the most dominant female champion in MMA. There is literally nobody in her weight class with the ability to test her right now. At least you could see Cris Cyborg giving Amanda Nunes a proper fight. ‘Bullet’ steamed through Liz Carmouche in a turgid five-rounder.
You had to look down the card for some more highlight moments. One of the biggest criticisms of recent UFC events is that they’re outrageously top-heavy. Three out of the last four fights on the main card had big names on them, but that’s not enough for the paying fans. The promotion needs to do better.
Anyway, check out some of the highlights from a mixed night in Montevideo. It definitely wasn’t the best card of the year by any means, but there was one bloody war and a fantastic KO by Volkan Oezdemir. Enjoy the clips below.

KO
Light-heavyweight contender Volkan Oezdemir showed off his KO power again, against the intensely tough and powerful Ilir Latifi. Latifi is a teammate of Alexander Gustafsson and an absolute monster of a puncher. He took down his Swiss opponent but Oezdemir was able to bounce right back up. He unloaded with elbows and knees, backing Latifi up.
Oezdemir still had to be careful of Latifi’s power, but there was a clear technical striking difference between the two. The Swiss fighter was clinical and landed a huge knee on his opponent’s chin in the second. That was the beginning of the end. He landed a heavy right hand and another punch and that was it. Goodnight Irene.
Volkan Oezdemir (16-4) combusts everyone's favorite centaur, Ilir Latifi, subjecting the Swede to a horrific beating before landing two detonating, senses-divesting lefts! The former title challenger snaps a three-fight skid. He has stopped 13, 12 by knockout. #UFCUruguay pic.twitter.com/2LhoWXNCd4

Crushed Nose
The fight of the night honours went to Mike Perry and Vincente Luque who put on a savage bloody war. The Brazilian would win by split-decision, but this was a vicious contest between two madmen, who left the cage covered in crimson.
Perry’s face by the end of the fight was shocking. Not only did he have cuts by both of his eyes, but his nose was crushed and bent out of shape. It was ridiculous. His reaction when he saw it on camera? A smile. What a hero.
What a WAR! 👊
