Another possible fight at UFC 300 is brewing: a champ vs. champ bout between Zhang Weili and Alexa Grasso.

After UFC CEO Dana White revealed his proposed “superfight” at UFC 300, many fighters of the promotion started expressing interest in the matter. Unfortunately, there are still no details about the lineup, except for the participation of Jim Miller, which White revealed recently. Yet, if the expectations are to be followed, the superfight event will likely feature the biggest names that UFC has: Jon Jones, Alex Pereira, Islam Makhachev, Israel Adesanya, and more. Weili and Grasso made sure to be on the list by arranging a fight between them.

In her recent Instagram post, the women’s strawweight champion initiated the offer to fight the Mexican fighter at UFC 300 in April. In response, the women’s pound-for-pound fighter enthusiastically agreed after offering to meet at 125.

“Hi champion. Maybe the fans wants to see us fight at UFC 300,” Weili wrote.

“@zhangweilimma I admire you so much! And I’d love to defend my title with you,” replied Grasso. “Would you make 125?”

Weili later agreed with the offer to have the bout in flyweight and tagged UFC CEO Dana White to announce their agreement.

In case pushed, the bout between the two will be one of the groundbreaking highlights of UFC 300. For the Chinese fighter, it is the perfect chance to challenge the position of Grasso as UFC’s top female fighter. In case the Mexican wins, on the other hand, her place in the promotion’s roster will be further cemented.
