Yep, this is actually for real now…
Starting after UFC 194, talks of Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather have been non stop. Although they compete in different sports, fascination has swelled on this subject. Dominating the headlines, it seems MMA vs. boxing is still a huge obsession.
Earlier in 2016 the bout was allegedly scheduled. Vegas book makers opened the odds, and the bout was supposed to go down in September. Obviously it never happened, as McGregor fought Nate Diaz in August.
Lots of Talk
During the lead up to UFC 205, the chatter went quiet. When McGregor KO’d Eddie Alvarez, the subject again exploded on the web. Now it looks like things are heating up once again, and for real this time.
Trading Twitter barbs non stop, both men have made it very personal. McGregor even referenced CJ Watson during his latest insult. Mayweather claims he wants the fight, but would it be boxing or MMA? Cue UFC president Dana White to blow the lid off everything:
White Offers Serious Purse
According to UFC president Dana White, he’s made the initial purse bid for McGregor vs. Mayweather. The catch? This fight would be in the UFC, and billed as ‘McGregor vs. Mayweather.’

Boxing or MMA?
Here’s a suggestion-boxing rules with MMA gloves! Surely the UFC aren’t expecting Mayweather, a boxer, to compete under MMA rules. If so, this bid will certainly be turned down.
Arguably the greatest boxer in the lower weight classes for the last 20 years, Mayweather is also a crafty businessman. Having seen the UFC is serious about making this fight, how long ill it be until this fight becomes a reality?
