No.2: Mario Lopez
Mario Lopez will forever be associated with his breakthrough acting role as A.C. Slater in the long-running ‘Saved By The Bell’ TV show, but though he’s gone on to have a successful career as both an actor and TV host, he also has what it takes to become a fighter too.
Don’t take our word for it, as retired UFC star and former WEC champion Urijah Faber has been vocal about his belief that Lopez could step into the cage and be a success.
“People ask me about celebrities who could be mixed martial arts fighters,” Faber told TMZ Sports. “42 [years-old) right now, you see Mario, he hasn’t aged at all. He could step in and compete.
“His boxing’s top notch. I’ve watched him box, he boxes at Wildcard, spars all the time. His wrestling is – he did better than both [Dominick] Cruz and I in high school. He’s a legitimate wrestler from California.”
Back in 1991, Lopez placed 2nd in San Diego at 160lbs as an amateur wrestler, while he was also ranked No.7 in the state Of California.
Lopez has also been boxing for many years and even once stepped into the ring with Oscar De La Hoya for a charity fight, while he started learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his 40’s and earned his blue belt last year.
