Bekzod Nurmatov
Experienced MMA fighter Bekzod Nurmatov died of a brain hemorrhage three days after a fight with Beslan Isaev at Absolute Championships of Akhmat’s 100th event in Chechnya on October 10th.
The 28-year-old Nurmatov had come in as the favorite to win the fight with Isaev, but ultimately came out on the wrong end of a split decision verdict after starting the fight well, but then fading in the second half.
Nevertheless, there didn’t appear to be anything particularly concerning that occurred during the fight and immediately afterwards everything seemed to be ok as a tired looking Nurmatov hugged his opponent and then walked out of the cage.
However, things would take a dramatic turn for the worse later that night as Nurmatov would suffer a stroke and then fell into a coma that he would never awake from, despite several days of hospital treatment.
Nurmatov had an 11-2 record at the time of his passing and was on a 10-fight winning streak prior to his loss to Isaev.
