Renzo Gracie

Walking to his car through the streets of Mahaattan in New York City at around 3am after a night out back in 2012, Renzo Gracie became aware that he was being followed by what he suspected were two would-be muggers, but while that might have scared 99% of the population, the BJJ ace was as cool as a cucumber.

So much so in fact that he started documenting what was happening on Twitter as he continued his walk home.

“22nd street and 10th ave right now two guys following me, can’t help but have a big smile upon my face Im talking about a happy one ;-)))),” Gracie posted.

“Waiting for them… Are they really thinking I’m drunk??? They have to be kidding. Hahahaha.”

Gracie also noted that, “My blood runs at a different speed,” and quipped, “Jiu-Jitsu, never leave home without it,” as the two thugs closed in on him and eventually asked if he had a smoke.

According to Gracie the men then became annoyed when he said he didn’t and grabbed him, while trying to look through his pockets.

“I hit him with a left hook and a straight right hand,” Gracie later told MMAjunkie. “He fell. Then I went to grab the second one, and he took off running.”

After calling the police and taking photos of the man he decided to hunt down the other attacker, eventually tracking him down and managing to take him down and choke him out.

Not satisfied with that, Gracie then decided to teach the man a lesson he wouldn’t forget with a punishment he remembered from his old days living in Brazil called ‘The Racoon,’ which essentially consisted of waiting for the man to wake up, giving him a black eye, choking him out and then repeating the process on the other side.

With that accomplished, Gracie headed off home, admitting his hands were sore, but nonetheless happy to have taught the criminals a lesson.
