James McSweeney
Former UFC heavyweight fighter James McSweeney was out shopping in Las Vegas with his mother and sister in 2012, when they found himself caught up in the middle of an armed robbery.
While browsing for gifts at an ABC convenience store, McSweeney observed two men arguing with each other, and then when a female store clerk approached to ask them to leave, one pulled a knife on her and led her back to the till, while the other stood watch near the door.
As the robber began snatching cash from the register, McSweeney decided to take action, grabbing him by the wrist and shoulder and then sweeping him face down onto the floor.
He then pinned the troublemaker down with one knee on his back, while isolating his knife-hand by trapping it inbetween his other knee.
Meanwhile, the thug’s accomplice decided to flee the scene, enabling McSweeney to keep the other man subdued until help arrived.
