Conor McGregor Has Revealed His Sincere Love of Mexico And That Floyd Mayweather Remains On His Mind…
It’s a busy time to be Conor McGregor right now. He’s currently preparing for his long-awaited return to the Octagon on October 6, when he’ll take on his arch-rival Khabib Nurmagamedov in a battle to determine the best lightweight fighter on the planet.
You’d think then that his mind would be totally focused on the task at hand. However, McGregor doesn’t think in the same way most of us mere mortals do. The Irishman is well-known for his unorthodox training methods as well as his eccentric personality.
That reached peak levels yesterday with a lengthy post explaining his love of Mexico, his favorite type of boxing glove, and chest hair. He even had time to throw in a little bit of shade towards his last opponent, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. You know the dude that made McGregor $100 million.

Long Rant
McGregor went on a long rant that basically stemmed from his love of his Mexican boxing gloves. He also took time to throw a subtle dig at Floyd Mayweather. This is in a week where he also reopened Paulie Malignaggi’s wounds. Floyd still wins though… because he won. McGregor wrote:
“Working in the big Mexican gloves today. Made from either cowhide or goatskin, and stuffed with horse hair, they are a lovely weighty glove, and known globally as the “punchers glove”. They are banned from some boxing contests because of lack of bottle. Floyd’s.”
Team McGregor famously made a massive deal out of negotiating the size of boxing gloves used in their contest down to 8oz, instead of the more regular 10oz. In the end, it made absolutely no difference. He still struggled to find a way through Mayweather’s guard.

Tangent
McGregor then decided to give his 25 million followers – that’s four times the population of Ireland – a history lesson about the gloves. He told them that this brand was a particular favorite of Muhammad Ali. He also went off on his love of hard spirits. He said:
“Nothing however, feels as blunt and as nom nom tasty as the 4oz baby gloves of MMA though, but these are some top big gloves I do love the Mexicans. My associates in my Whiskey venture are Mexican. From a beautiful little town named “Tequila.” Another phenomenal Mexican made product. Just like my Irish whiskey, it is for the powerful, and the driven.”
Let’s hope he has better luck with his whiskey than with his new Reebok clothesline. The trademark ‘McGregor’ has already been taken in Europe, so he’s been prevented from trading across the continent. That’s a bummer.
Mexican Wave
The Notorious also gave a shout out to his fans in Mexico. He’s clearly a big fan of the Central American state and is fascinated by its history and people. McGregor said:
“There is an Irish saying that our whiskey “will put hairs on your chest.” It is why there is a big gorilla on mine. The Mexicans are of a strong breed. Just like the Irish. I have a lot of respect for Mexico. My son was also born on Cinco de Mayo. Mexico, the McGregors love you!”
