Don Frye
UFC hall-of-famer Don Frye really had no business being in the cage with Ruben Villareal at Gladiators Challenge in late 2011, but despite the out-of-shape 46-year-old having not fought for two years and being riddled with injuries, the truth was that he just needed the money.
Throughout his career Frye had prided himself on his toughness, but there’s only so much one chin can take and he’d already been TKO’d in 60 seconds by Dave Herman in his previous outing.
Alas it didn’t go any better for him against Villareal, who managed to land a series of uppercuts early in the fight that snapped back Frye’s head several times.
Not long after Villareal started to land another combination of punches, then an uppercut that seemed to stop Frye dead in his tracks, with another behind it sending ‘The Predator’ face first onto the canvas for a nasty first round knockout finish.
