Rashad Evans
For some time the writing appeared to be on the wall for former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans career as he struggled to rack up even a single victory over a five year period.
Evans clearly struggled with the idea of hanging up his gloves however, and even tried to reignite his career with an ill-fated move down to middleweight that only succeeded in adding two more losses to his record.
As one last roll of the dice, Evans moved back up to 205lbs at UFC 225 in 2018 to take on Anthony Smith, who was moving up to make his light-heavyweight debut.
Unfortunately for the 38 year-old this wasn’t to be a redemption story as just 53 seconds into the fight Smith landed a knee to the face from the clinch that knocked Evans out, with two clubbing punches on the way down sealing the victory and leaving Evans in no doubt that now was the time to bring an end to his fighting career.
