Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller
‘Mayhem’ Miller has always been one of MMA’s wackiest characters. He seems to have a natural urge to entertain people, and that led him to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Mayhem first dipped his toe in the water in comedic waters in 2010 while he was still fighting. His debut gig was more of a ‘storyteller’ scenario, which he said came naturally to him as he had no shortage of crazy stories to tell.
A couple of months after his retirement from the UFC in 2012, Miller became more heavily involved in doing open-mic gigs. Though as you can see from the video above from a gig at Bru House in Los Angeles, it wasn’t going well. The troubled ‘Mayhem’s’ exceptionally turbulent post-career life has been well documented. But through all the trials and tribulations he hasn’t given up on wanting to be a comedian, and in recent years he’s performed at venues like the Laugh Factory and Dime Bar.
“Comedy is an art form very similar to jiu-jitsu,” Mayhem told flocombat.com. “It’s more akin to interpretive dance with your mouth. It’s a skill that I crafted similarly to jiu-jitsu by verbally grappling with the best comedians. If you are with Joe Rogan enough you better get funny.”
