Forrest Griffin
By his own admission, Griffin was humiliated in his fight with Anderson Silva. The longtime middleweight champion repeatedly dropped him in the opening round, before casually KO’ing him as Griffin charged forward. There’s more to the story, though. Griffin revealed years later that he’d actually been knocked out twice in training for the fight. That included one such instance just two weeks before the event.
Griffin has admitted himself that sparring too hard in training was a bad habit he had. That would ultimately shorten his career considerably. Yet it’s worth stressing that even despite having an awful camp, Silva still seemed to be light years ahead of him in that fight and even broke his jaw before the stoppage.
