Sean O’Malley

O’Malley made a name for himself as a talented prospect on the Dana White’s Contender Series. But behind the scenes, he had taken a major risk with his health in order to seize that potential once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to break into the UFC.

“I haven’t said anything about it, but I had a bad concussion that whole fight camp,” O’Malley told MMAjunkie about his breakthrough fight.  “I woke up that morning, I had headaches, I was like, ‘(Expletive).’ I was just thinking I had to go in there and scrap and just make it ugly – just do whatever I had to do to win it.”

O’Malley toughed it out and showed off impressive striking against Alfred Khashakyan. Luckily for him, it resulted in a late first-round KO finish that booked his place in the UFC.
