Sakuraba-Renzo-Pride-10-match

2. Sakuraba breaks Renzo Gracie’s arm PRIDE 10

Gracie’s don’t tap, even when they really should.

This fight at Pride 10 was Sakuraba’s 3rd fight in 9 months against a member of the Gracie family.  Renzo was fighting for the honour of his family name against “the Gracie Killer” as Sakuraba had become known.

9 minutes into round 2 Sakuraba locked up Renzo in a kimura, Renzo didn’t tap but the ref stopped the fight due to his badly broken arm.

Renzo would go on to call the moment a career highlight for him, because he was so proud of himself for not tapping despite the mangling his arm was put through.
