5. Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabio Maldonado
Fedor Emelianenko spent 3 years retired before returning on new years eve 2015 for the Rizin promotion, defeating Singh Jaideep in the 1st round. From there Fedor would make his debut on UFC Fight Pass, main eventing a show from Russia against former UFC light heavyweight competitor Fabio Maldonado.
This entire event was the Fedor Appreciation party, with the commentators all but declaring Fedor to be the greatest human being in history, and a credit to the Russian people.
The first two minutes of this fight were ridiculous. In the 1st minute it looked like Fedor was going to end the fight early, but then Maldonado turned the tide and ended up dominating the rest of the round.
The next two rounds consisted of two tired guys involved in a clunky striking contest. The judge’s awarded the fight to Fedor, but many find that result to be suspicious.
In the main event of a show all based around Fedor’s 1st fight in Russia in almost 5 years, there was no way the judge’s weren’t going to give him the victory.
