With the announcement that CM Punk will be fighting at UFC 203, we thought it made sense to review some notable times athletes from other sports (or in Punk’s case “sports entertainment”) tried to compete in mixed martial arts.

Some athletes have decided to transition into mixed martial arts and done relatively decent. ¬†Ex-football players such as Matt Mitrione and Brendan Schaub managed to eek out decent UFC careers in the heavyweight division, and even Hershel Walker racked up a 2-0 record competing for Strikeforce. This list is for the guys that weren’t so lucky however.
