A unique heavyweight matchup is booked for UFC Fight Night 190. Undefeated prospect, Ciryl Gane will face #5 ranked heavyweight, Alexander Volkov. It will be the main-event for the non-ppv card, and is an important fight for both parties. Whoever wins the fight may possibly fight for the title next. The fight will take place on 26 June 2021.

Both fighters have are yet to fight for the title, but they certainly have the toolset to become the next heavyweight champion. In terms of heavyweights, it is difficult to find a technical striker, mainly because heavyweights hit different. It is not like any other division in combat sports.

Ciryl Gane may only have 8 fights in his pro mma career but many consider him a future champion. In his 8 fights, he has beaten guys like Junior Dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Another fun fact is Ciryl Gane and current champion, Francis Ngannou used to spar.

Ciryl Gane has shown he has great striking and knows to his range well but he is fighting someone taller and longer. Will he be able to close the distance? Volkov has certainly improved his game a lot.

Alexander Volkov has shown improvements especially his power. Volkov has been bulking up to in order to gain more power. In terms of MMA experience, Volkov is considered a veteran since it will be his 42nd fight on his upcoming fight with Ciryl Gane. Volkov just knocked out Overeem in a brutal fashion. Overeem was then cut from the UFC.

It will certainly test both fighters if they are ready for a title shot. We might see a technical fight or someone is getting knocked out. We have not seen a stacked heavyweight division for quite a while and it is interesting on who will end up the champion by the end of the year.
