So you thought that bodybuilders challenging MMA fighters was a thing of the past?
Since winning the UFC bantamweight title, Cody Garbrandt has become quite the star. Dominating the previously untouchable champion Dominick Cruz, ‘No Love’ captured the belt in a blaze of glory.
Really pushing the rivalry with TJ Dillashaw, Garbrandt’s confrontations with his former team mate have been ramping up. During their current stint as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, we’ve seen a couple of physical confrontations.
But there’s another, far more bizarre fight brewing in the background.
Garbrandt vs. Street Fighting Bodybuilder..?
Although Garbrandt was originally meant to fight Dillashaw at UFC 213, a back injury to the champion put that to rest. Possible replacement and flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson seemed uninterested in fighting ‘The Viper,’ so he’ll probably have to wait.
For Garbrandt, there is some form of fight that’s coming up, but it won’t be against a UFC star. One particularly angry follower on Twitter, a self proclaimed ‘street fighter’ and professional bodybuilder, has bought tickets to the champ’s Team Alpha Male gym.
Things got very heated, and Matthew Kline Kader promises to show up to fight Garbrandt on June 25th, and even stream the action online.
