Colby Covington Knows Who He Wants to Fight Next… And Georges St. Pierre is High On His Hitlist…

MMA fans around the world rejoiced when Colby Covington was stripped of his interim welterweight title. The man with the loudest mouth in the UFC was due to fight Tyron Woodley in September but the fight was scrapped after ‘Chaos’ announced that he needed nasal surgery. That’s not surprising considering all the partying he’s doing… sniff, sniff.

Anyway, the UFC managed to appease Covington slightly by bringing him to meet his hero Donald Trump. Pictures of Colby, complete with Make America Great Again baseball cap, went viral as Trump stood with the UFC fake belt over his shoulder. Lovely.

Now, after all of that, Covington has revealed some of the names on his hit list. While he obviously wants the next welterweight title shot, he’s also interested in the likes of Nick Diaz and even Georges St. Pierre. Get in line.

Syrup Sucker

In an interview with mmaweekly.com, Covington made it clear that he was going to stand still. He wants to fight and he’s ready for the biggest names in the business, including Georges St. Pierre.

“There’s only a couple of fights that would make sense for me. There’s obviously defending my undisputed belt against the No. 1 contender winner, Darrell “Doughboy” Till, or Tyquil Woodley… but there’s some other fights that present themselves.”

“GSP, that little syrup sucker, he can come get this. He thinks he’s the greatest welterweight of all time. I have something else to say about that. I’ll destroy him. I’ll send him back to Canada crying. He can eat his little poutine there. I’m going to get my poontang here in America like a real American champion.”

Legacy

Now, this is actually interesting because while there seems very little chance of Covington getting that fight, two things stand in his favor. The UFC could offer a lightweight title shot to GSP if he proves he still has it at welterweight. Meanwhile, UFC 231 is in Toronto in November. Covington will be fit to fight. Surely, GSP would want to headline in Canada?

However, if ‘Rush’ isn’t an option, then there are a couple of lightweights that Covington is targeting. Yes, you guessed it. If he becomes welterweight champion, he wants a super fight against Conor McGregor or Khabib Nurmagamedov. Not happening. End of story. Sorry for wasting your time.

More Likely

However, his final name is the most realistic. Covington turned his attention back to Nick Diaz. The Stockton native hasn’t fought in the octagon for three years but speculation suggests he wants to make a return, especially because he’s racking up legal costs.

“Nick Diaz is another guy. If he stops beating women, he can come get it, too. He’s probably going broke soon cause he’s been in jail and he’s spending all his money on drugs. He can come get this ass whooping, too.”

That fight is very possible, especially if Covington were a champion. Could you imagine it? Nick Diaz being given a title shot on his return and the chance of UFC redemption. That would absolutely sell.
