The bare-knuckle boxing scene is on the rise. After another successful event in Mississipi, BKFC are already planning their next morally reprehensible event. You’ve got to love it. The promotion is gaining a reputation for signing washed-out warriors who would struggle to spell CTE. But there’s still something fascinatingly entertaining about their cards.
For example, they’ve matched up Gabriel Gonzaga and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in a fight that definitely didn’t need to happen. They’ve even lured Paulie Malignaggi out of retirement to fight Artem Lobov. Furthermore, Wanderlei Silva is the newest big name on the roster. Until now.
Now they’ve added the Iranian Hulk to their list of increasingly mental fighters. But we mean no disrespect when we say that. This is pure chaos.
Unit
Sajad Gharibi is from Iran and as you can see, he’s a bodybuilder. He’s gained internet notoriety because of his insane frame. It’s as though somebody got three barrels of oil, stuck them together and called them a person. Gharibi probably has that much oil in him that the US will be looking to bring him some freedom any day now.
He was previously meant to fight British bodybuilder Martyn Ford on a KSW card this year. The pair were set to fight at super-heavyweight because, quite frankly, they’re full of steroids and massive. It’s better off not to question it. Just accept it. But BKFC President David Feldman has confirmed they’ve secured this literally massive coup. How much money says they try to get him to fight Bob Sapp?
Let’s hope that this time the fight does go down. It might be entertaining for about ten seconds before he gasses out, but still, this man will bring in a few casual fans for sure.
World War III
Typically the BKFC top brass has a mad idea. They plan on an event where they pitch a bunch of US and Iranian fighters against each other. In short, you’d imagine that the hillbillies will lap it up.
“This guy’s going to make his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut in early 2020. We’re going to do a show entitled ‘USA vs. Iran: World War III.’ He’s literally our biggest signing we’ve ever had. But he’s going to make his way over to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, he’s gonna make a home here, and we expect really, really big things from ‘The Iranian Hulk,’” Feldman said.
Finally. This is what the combat sports world has been waiting for.
Warriors
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor has responded to Artem Lobov’s KO loss at the weekend. He was beaten by Jason Knight in Mississippi after a hard slog of a fight. The two men went back-and-forth but Knight was able to land the KO in the final round. However, both men earned the respect of the fans.
“Artem Lobov! What a warrior!” McGregor wrote. “What a journey this has been mate. What a journey this is! You blow me away bro, from the world tours to the ultimate fighter to this! You deserve the world and more my brother! Congrats on another amazing fight! What a story! Brothers for life mate.”
Furthermore, McGregor showed some respect for Knight.
”Congrats to Jason Knight,” he finished. “Amazing warrior. Great fight.”
