Conor McGregor’s Behaviour has Been Defended by an Unlikely Source as U2’s The Edge Comes Out in Support of The Notorious…
Conor McGregor is one of the most polarizing people in the sport today. His fame transcends MMA. The Irishman became embedded in popular culture when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr last year, in a record-breaking clash, worth hundreds of millions to both men.
Since then he’s been in the news for a lot more negative reasons. He’s been spotted cozying up to pop star Rita Ora while his girlfriend was at home with their baby. ‘The Notorious’ shoved referee Marc Goddard at a Bellator event. Most recently he launched a full-scale assault on the UFC 223 media bus carrying Khabib Nurmagamedov.
However, one source claims that this isn’t the real McGregor. Fellow Dubliner and superstar, David Evans AKA The Edge has come out in support of the divisive MMA fighter. The Edge is a member of internationally renowned band U2 and had nothing but good things to say about McGregor.

Legendary
U2 are one of the most successful bands on the planet. They’ve won an incredible 22 Grammy awards and have been touring since 1976. The Edge has been an integral part of the band throughout all of this time. How cool do you have to be that nobody actually knows your real name? In an interview with the Irish Sun he said:
“I met Conor, he seemed like a great bloke. It’s hard for me to say anything other than what my own experience was. He seemed like a great guy and I’m a fan.”
He had nothing but positive things to say about ‘The Notorious.’ Let’s be real folks, money changes people. There’s a very good chance that McGregor’s erratic behavior is a direct result of the drastically increased fame and wealth he’s experienced over the last year. He’s a long way from the Dublin dole queue.

Publicity Stunt
The Edge refused to be drawn on the sensational events that took place in New York during the week of UFC 223. McGregor notoriously threw a dolly through the window of a bus, injuring two fighters and damaging property. It culminated with him spending the night in a Brooklyn precinct, along with his teammate Cian Cowley.
“What happened in New York, I don’t know what the hell was going on there, whether it was a publicity stunt or what the hell, I don’t know,” The Edge said. “But my experience of him was a positive one.”

Good to Hear
When it comes down to it, McGregor genuinely seems to be a decent guy. Footage has emerged recently of him motivating a disabled gym goer, which shows his caring side. He’s always been very good to fans as well, taking time to sign autographs and take pictures.
‘The Notorious’ is due back in court on June 14th. He faces three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief. If he’s successfully charged he could face over a decade in prison or at the very least lose the right to work in the United States. However, with his wealth, that’s highly unlikely. Fame is a fickle friend.
