UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was in New York recently to support fellow Irish countryman Michael Conlan’s professional boxing debut at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, and suffice to say, the media immediately jumped all over him at the post-fight scrum. Of course, with McGregor being McGregor, the Irish star made a scene.

As the blockbuster superfight between he and pound-for-pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather inches closer to fruition, McGregor is becoming more and more prominent in the media after taking a short break to focus on personal matters. Mayweather is also rumored to have gone back to training.

McGregor was in New York recently and spoke to media about Mayweather

Rushing right up to ESPN boxing analyst Dan Rafael, McGregor sounded off and had a message for the world.

McGregor Plans on Storming Boxing

“You’re the boxing guy?” McGregor asked Rafael.

“Watch me take over boxing, trust me on that. No one in this boxing game knows what’s coming, trust me on that. I’m going to step in there and shock the whole god damn world, trust me on that. Look me in the eyes. I’m 28 years of age, confident as a motherf*cker, long, rangy, dangerous with every hand. Trust me, I’m going to stop Floyd [Mayweather] and you’re all going to eat your words. The whole world is going to eat their words.”

With the fight not yet finalized however, many observers still don’t believe it will ever get made. There are far too many variables involved in the negotiations, although UFC President Dana White has said they will no longer prevent the fight from happening. When asked when he would face Mayweather, McGregor gave a vague but promising answer.

He says a fight with Mayweather is getting very close to happening

“It’s getting close. Don’t worry about it. You’ll hear about it,” McGregor said before fleeing the media. “I’m outta here.”

If Mayweather and McGregor do make the fight happen, it is expected to be the richest fight in combat sports history.

Meanwhile, McGregor’s Irish countryman Conlan was victorious in his pro boxing debut, winning by third-round TKO over Tim Ibarra.

  1. I can’t stand either one of those assholes. A double knockout would be awesome. lol. Didn’t McGregor go to New York for a fight and say ” I made this town”? New York would eat this moron for a midnight snack. He oughta hook up with Trump, they’re a lot alike. Both major assholes.

  2. I find it fucking hilarious that someone without any Boxing experience whatsoever thinks that they’re gonna step in the ring for the first time with one of all time pound for pound best and pull it off. The ego on this guy has no limits and it’s gonna bite him in the soon. If he does someone manage to hear Meyweather and cross over to Boxing there’s gonna be guys lined up wanting a piece of his ass and he’ll pick the ones past their primes but still able to give a good fight but he knows he can win and dodge all the gunslingers that would teach him a lesson. I don’t think MsGregors even serious about fighting Mayweather he’s just using the hype to increase his marketability.
