Nate Diaz pulls no punches on McGregor vs. Mayweather rivalry…

What was once seen as a publicity stunt may actually come to fruition, as recent events have made the prospect of a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing bout more likely.

Recently Dana White told TMZ reporters the UFC would not stand in the way of a bout between the two superstars. White stated he would never get in the way of Conor making the kind of money he could from headlining a PPV opposite Floyd.

When Will Nate Diaz Fight Again?

The possibility of Conor McGregor’s next bout being in a boxing ring raises many questions regarding his UFC future. Another fighter with an uncertain UFC future appears to be Nate Diaz.

Dana White told the same reporters yesterday that Nate continues to turn down fights the UFC offers him. In particular, Nate is said to have turned down a fight with former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. While Nate has denied he will only accept a fight with Conor, it appears he is holding out for the most profitable bout he can get.

Nate’s brother Nick also is having trouble finding a fight. Last summer Nick had been linked to a rematch with Georges St. Pierre, but now with GSP committed to a fight with Bisping that bout is unlikely to occur anytime soon. According to White, Nick has turned down fights with Robbie Lawler and Demian Maia.

Nate’s Opinion on McGregor vs. Mayweather Rivalry

Things have been heating up in talks for the rumoured bout, one which may hurt the future drawing power of a Nate vs. Conor trilogy fight if Conor were to come out looking bad. Nate has stated before he believes everything between Mayweather and Conor is just a publicity stunt however.

Could #Fakewar mean Nate Diaz feels the rivalry is fabricated? Does he think entire thing is a marketing stunt by Conor to stay in the limelight?

Chael Sonnen doesn’t believe that, he feels certain the bout will happen. He sent out an ominous tweet last night:

Chael Sonnen on Conor vs. Floyd

Sonnen has been known to obtain information before it is made public. This was the case when he revealed which drugs Jon Jones tested positive for on Joe Rogan’s podcast before others knew. It’s possible he knows something the rest of us don’t here as well.

Chael isn’t giving Conor much of a chance in the bout however. He had this to say regarding others who give him a “puncher’s chance” of knocking out Floyd:

“I think the fact that anybody is weighing in that there’s a contest there is such an incredible disrespect to boxing. If that fight goes more than 30 seconds, it shames boxing, if it goes out of the first round, it humiliates boxing.

“The fact that there’s even an interest there – and I’m one of the people that shares the interest – but the fact that there’s even an interest there is so disrespectful to the entire sport of boxing. When that fight’s done, Conor is gonna go more than 30 seconds. He’s likely to go more than one round – he shouldn’t, but he is likely to go more than one round – and it’s going to humiliate boxing.”
