UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor has been all over the media constantly this year. First it was the aftermath of the Jose Aldo knockout at UFC 194 in December 2015, then he was scheduled to face Rafael dos Anjos.

With his popularity at an all time high, the Irish star was being fast tracked to the lightweight title shot. It was not to be though, as the Brazilian was pulled from UFC 196 and replaced by Nate Diaz.

Instead of lightweight Diaz and McGregor would face each other at welterweight. It was not to be McGregor’s night though, and he suffered a humiliating beatdown at the hands of his taller foe.

Eventually tapping to a rear naked choke in the second round, ‘The Notorious’ would throw his toys out of the pram in the following months. When the UFC finally managed to pin him down again, McGregor only wanted to fight Diaz.

With the 145-pound belt still undefended, McGregor and Diaz were slated to face off again on August 20. So smooth sailing from here onward? Not quite, the rivalry is steadily starting to build all over again.
