The main event of the biggest card in UFC history was for the women’s bantamweight championship between Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes, not bad considering the division has only existed for 3 years.
Women’s MMA is just as popular as men’s MMA, and is arguably producing just as many stars, if not more. Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Cyborg are all household names in MMA now, and creating some of the most exciting rivalries and bouts that the sport has seen.
In recognition of the success of women’s mixed martial arts these last few years, this list celebrates the top six KO’s in women’s MMA.
6. Joanna Jedrzejczyk KO’s Jessica Penne
Joanna Jedrzejczyk is a savage and violent woman who can do bad things to people. Honestly there is nobody more fun to watch fight than Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Her MMA record is 12-0 and her total combat sports record is 39-2, there is no way Penne stood a chance here.
Penne made it to the semi-finals of the Ultimate Fighter 20, but lost to eventual winner Carla Esparza. After beating Markos she challenged Joanna for the title at UFC Fight Night in June of 2015, but she almost got her face punched clean off her head before the ref finally stepped in.
