Is this when Conor McGregor finally steps back into the cage? And if he is… who will he fight?
Conor McGregor remains the biggest star in Mixed Martial Arts. Even though so many people claim to hate the Irishman, he’s still capable of stirring the world into a frenzy with a single tweet. No other MMA fighter can say the same. ‘The Notorious’ has done it again by simply tweeting a single date.
McGregor hasn’t fought since his tough loss to Khabib Nurmagamedov, almost a year ago. That defeat came in the fourth round via neck crank. Now he’s more famous for his crazy incidents outside the cage, including punching an old man in a bar. He’s also been linked to an alleged sexual assault case in Ireland.
It looks like he might have finally realised that the easiest way to get fans back on his side is to fight. It’s important to remember that he definitely hasn’t been booked. However, Justin Gaethje is definitely the most likely opponent. Check out McGregor’s tweet below.
Dublin, December 14th.

One Tweet
McGregor remains capable of stirring the emotions of those who claim to hate him. Despite behaving like an idiot for much of the past couple of years, he still maintains a magnetism that’s hard to describe. The reason McGregor is popular is that he was a great fighter. If he wants to maintain his brand, he needs to fight again soon. He tweeted:
“Dublin, December 14th.”
Now, while some have suggested that this is McGregor’s next court date, others believe that it will be when he fights next. The promotion is yet to issue a statement so watch this space. It’s worth noting that his broken hand has healed.

Gaethje Time?
The big question is who will McGregor fight? Khabib Nurmagamedov is a possibility but it does seem like McGregor will need to earn that shot. Tony Ferguson has been promised that he will get the next shot. Meanwhile, Donald Cerrone is a fading force after back-to-back losses. Justin Gaethje is next in line and would make total sense. He’s up for the fight too. He recently told media:
“He punched an old man in the face. I want to (expletive) him up for that. Far as I know, he’s retired. He’s in the rankings, so he either fights or he gets out. I absolutely would love to fight him.”
Although Gaethje refused to call McGregor out after beating Cerrone at the weekend, you can bet that he won’t’ turn down that payday. Beating the Irishman would be a massive statement for him.

Drawback
McGregor’s tweet faces one significant drawback. Amanda Nunes is booked to defend her featherweight title on the same date. Does he really have the power to get the UFC to move an event? It would be a massive call to move the card from Las Vegas to Dublin. But who really cares about Germaine De Randamie?
Only time will tell whether or not this will happen. However, McGregor is still a massive draw and stranger things have happened. Chances are he’s just trolling us.
