Poor Eddie Alvarez just can’t catch a break…
It almost seems like a lifetime ago that we waited for UFC 205. For the first time in the modern era, the UFC was heading to New York City. Eagerly anticipated and stacked to the gills with talent, UFC 205 delivered on all fronts.
Arguably the best event of 2016, UFC 205 featured a lightweight title fight with huge implications. Eddie Alvarez held the belt after destroying Rafael dos Anjos, but not for long. Coming in like a steam roller, the Irishman made Alvarez crumble.

Two Belts
Putting on a striking clinic, ‘The Notorious’ knocked out Alvarez like he was a kid. Following the win, McGregor would mock Alvarez’s request for an apology in his post-fight interview. Now, nearly three months later, it seems McGregor isn’t done trolling Alvarez.
Taking to his Twitter this morning, McGregor sent out another barb to his former opponent. Here’s what the sharp tongued lightweight champion had to say:

Too Far?
Obviously there’s a certain level of gamesmanship involved in the fight game nowadays. Definitely in the case of McGregor, most fighters have trash talk for days. After this much time has passed, shouldn’t ‘The Notorious’ be targeting his next potential opponents?
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are fighting for the interim lightweight belt, and Nate Diaz is still blasting McGregor. Why isn’t the lightweight champion taking aim at these foes?
Thoughts
Perhaps the Irish star is just keeping his social media feed active? Talks of a potential boxing match with Floyd Mayweather have again died down, thankfully. Now we just wait for his return, hopefully some time this summer.
We’ll have a clear contender to the title by then, and so maybe McGregor’s trash talk will be aimed elsewhere.
