Conor McGregor has been hitting it HARD lately…
Undoubtedly the highest paid athlete in MMA today, Conor McGregor’s four-year run in the UFC has been extremely lucrative. After winning the UFC featherweight title at UFC 194, the Irishman hit a windfall of cash and a massive contract.
Lately, though, McGregor’s search for big money has seen him moving steadily away from the octagon. Although he remains the UFC lightweight champion, a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather is taking precedent.
Party Time
Last weekend was a big one for Conor McGregor, who hit Liverpool for a reportedly epic three-day bender. Numerous images and videos have surfaced, including one that got McGregor in trouble with a Rolls Royce owner.
One report by British tabloid The Sun reveals the extent of McGregor’s partying in the UK. Check out the images of a trashed hotel room at The Hilton, which the Irishman had to allegedly pay a ‘specialist team’ to clean up:
Grand National Party In Treehouse
Following his booze and nitro fuelled long weekend, a video of McGregor looking a little worse for wear emerged on Youtube.
Watch as a pale and clearly tanked ‘Notorious’ dances in a treehouse at a house party in Aintree:
Money Talks
Putting things in perspective almost perfectly was the UFC on FOX 24 event in Kansas. Arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter alive, Demetrious Johnson, tied Anderson Silva’s record for most consecutive title defenses at 10.
“Mighty Mouse” is not known for his trash talk or outlandish antics. As a result, the FOX card drew the lowest overnight ratings in UFC history. Immediately after the event, Johnson both called out McGregor, and blasted Jon Jones for cocaine use.
Should this be the way the sport is run? Bad behaviour equals dollars, but pure fighting skill seems to be overlooked.
