Joe Rogan Believes that Conor McGregor Will Never Be Licensed to Fight in New York Again…

Conor McGregor is without a doubt the biggest star in the whole of combat sports today. Now that Floyd Mayweather has retired, there really is nobody out there who can match his charisma, bravado, and sheer insanity. As a UFC fighter, the Irishman is without a doubt the biggest cash cow the organization has ever had.

However, McGregor is also prone to moments of lunacy. In the last year, he has attacked a referee at a Bellator event in Dublin. He’s been involved in spats with Irish gangsters. And of course, he wound up in a Brooklyn police precinct after the notorious UFC bus attack.

The last one could have a detrimental impact on his career in combat sports. Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes that the New York State Athletic Commission will not take kindly to McGregor’s actions.

Big Mistake

The UFC bus attack was one of the most dramatic moments in the history of the organization. Two fighters were injured during a premeditated assault involving twenty of McGregor’s Irish friends, who were specially flown over by private jet.

Video footage of the attack showed McGregor launching a dolly at the bus. It shattered the window with glass cutting Michael Chiesa’s face and entering the eye of Ray Borg. ‘The Notorious’ is expected to be hit with a number of lawsuits for his actions.

After an initial court appearance, McGregor was released on bail of $50,000, paid for by his New York-based training partner Dillon Danis. He has to return to court on June 14th, where a decision will be made on the Irishman’s future.

Serious Consequences

Joe Rogan believes that the bus attack could have serious implications for McGregor’s future in combat sports. Even if he doesn’t face any legal consequences, the New York State Athletic Commision is unlikely to take a kind view of his actions.

“I don’t think New York is ever letting that motherf**ker fight there again,” said Rogan. “I just don’t think they’re gonna do that. They don’t play games. That athletic commission is a different commission.

They’re new to MMA and that was embarrassing to them. Him throwing the f**king dolly and the fact that they let him get in there with all his boys, the whole thing was just so thuggish.”

Long-Term Damage

The problem for McGregor is not just that he may not be able to fight for the UFC in New York, but that he would face a total ban from competing in the state. He’s damaged New York’s tense relationship with MMA. Madison Square Garden, the most storied venue in combat sports could close its doors to the Irishman.

Even worse would be if other state commisions decide to follow the lead of the NYSAC. McGregor will be anxiously waiting to see what happens. He’s definitely made his life more complicated though. With lawsuits and uncertainty ahead for the Irishman, it remains to be seen whether or not we see him back in the octagon this year.
