Bellator champion Cris Cyborg is set to face Kelsey Wickstrum in a boxing ring after successfully stopping Cat Zingano last month with a 1st-round TKO at Bellator 300.
The six-round 154-pound fight is set on January 19 at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. This will be the third time Cyborg will enter the boxing ring after taking down Simone da Silva in September 2022 and Gabrielle Holloway in December of the same year.
One of the most recent victories of the Brazilian-American mixed martial artist happened at Bellator 300 when she won over Cat Zingano through a first-round TKO. The MMA fighter delivered her win via ground-and-pound and ended the bout at 4:01. The win then became her 12th-ever first-round knockout finish.
The upcoming bout, nonetheless, is different from MMA. Cyborg will be facing Wickstrum, who has a record of 2-0 as a professional boxer. The boxer won against Sudana Moore through a Round 3 TKO. Her first win was against Stevie Jane Coleman in 2021.
The bout should help Cyborg get a better view of her future, especially with Bellator’s broadcast partner Showtime planning to end its combat sports business this year. With this, parent company Viacom is forced to sell the MMA promotion. PFL is reportedly the strongest chance of having it.
