It is no secret that Cyborg has had a tough time getting fights. She has destroyed most everyone she has fought in the last eleven years. Whether they have an actual division for her or not, everyone knows who the toughest woman in the world at 145lbs is.

Dana White has said the reason they haven’t created a division for Cyborg yet, is because there are not enough tough women at 145lbs. This of course might be because women getting into fighting no they better slim down or run the risk of facing Cyborg.

Skeptics will say that the reason the UFC has not created a division for Cyborg is because they don’t see her as marketable. Her frame looks as though it was constructed in a chemistry lab more than it does a gym, and White has not shied away in the least from mentioning “steroids” and her name in the same sentence.

So when Cyborg heard that a top-name like Miesha Tate is giving interviews and stating she would fight her, it’ safe to assume she was ready to jump at the opportunity. Though judging by her response on social media recently, things aren’t moving fast enough for her liking.

It is possible that Tate was sent “feelers” or even a contract (judging by Cyborg’s tweet) but has been slow to respond. Of course, Tate has a fight coming up later next month and is most likely not going to be signing on for her next bout until afterwards.

Could we see Cyborg vs. Tate sometime in 2017? It is definitely possible, but much of it depends on what happens with the Ronda vs Nunes and/or Tate vs. Pennington fights. It does look likely however, that Cyborg will finally get a big name to fight in the UFC sooner rather than later.
