In One of the Most Bizarre Videos of the Week, Georges St. Pierre Shows His Reaction to a Near-Fatal Gorilla Attack in Africa…
Well now, this is a little bit mad. Georges St. Pierre, the two weight world champion mixed martial artist, and Canadian legend almost died after getting charged by a gorilla in Africa. The UFC star shared the video on Twitter of the aftermath of the attack, and he’s clearly visibly shaken by the incident.
St. Pierre is arguably the greatest UFC welterweight of all time. He made his comeback last year, after a four-year hiatus, to take the middleweight title from then-champion Michael Bisping. He hasn’t been seen since, as he recovers from ulcerative colitis, a side effect of all the weight he put on to fight ‘The Count.’
More recently he’s been linked to a lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagamedov. That’s a massive leap from middleweight down to 155, but if anyone can do it, it’s St. Pierre. It must be easier than dodging gorillas.
This video was taken in Africa seconds after an alpha gorilla charged me. I had to take a submissive posture and get out of his way. One of the most frightening and incredible experiences of my life – even with all the fight training in the world I wouldn’t have been a match! pic.twitter.com/pn5N8X2J1t

Near-Death
It’s clear from the video footage that St. Pierre is very shaken by his experience. He’s helped by a safari ranger to safety, as a pair of young gorillas play-wrestle in the background, while the big, adult version looms menacingly in the bushes. He also looks very dapper for a trip to the jungle. Kudos. He wrote:

You’d think he’d know a thing about getting ‘Rushed”. I’ll see myself out now. In all seriousness though, he’ll have to harden up if he wants to fight Khabib. The Russian was legitimately wrestling bear cubs when he was a kid, and St. Pierre is being soft about taking on a gorilla? Come on Georges!
Beast Mode
To be fair, according to conservatism activist Elaine Mah, gorillas are estimated to be six times stronger than humans, or three times stronger than a Stipe Miocic. This is because they use their massive arms to swing from trees and will walk around on all fours.
They also have ridiculously powerful teeth capable of biting 1,300lbs per sq.inch. To put that in perspective, because I didn’t know what that meant either, it’s over twice as strong as a Great White Shark’s bite (625psi) or a lion (650psi). This is because they casually eat bamboo and other hardy plants.
It’s impossible to wrestle something six times stronger that can bite your arm off.
Return
The good thing about this gorilla attack is that we might see St. Pierre return to the octagon sooner rather than later. Clearly fighting in the UFC is much safer than going on holiday. Although I wouldn’t want to choose between facing Khabib or getting attacked by a gorilla. At least with the gorilla, it would be over quickly.
UFC president Dana White tried to say last week that St. Pierre is retired. However, the Canadian’s camp came out in very strong denial and was adamant that he would fight again in the future, once his health problems are sorted out. See you soon Georges.
