It’s Time: UFC President Dana White is Now a Playable Character in UFC 3…
Dana White has never been afraid of making his feelings known. He’s rubbed up more than a few UFC fighters the wrong way in the process. Over the years he’s had high-profile and foul-mouthed feuds with fighters like Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, and B.J Penn, amongst many others.
So if you’re Paul Daley, Mario Yamasaki or Ben Askren, you might be delighted to hear that the UFC President is now available to play as a downloadable character in EA’s UFC 3. They might not be able to punch or choke out White in real life, but you can bet the game will fly off the shelves now.
It’s a brilliant marketing ploy by EA. White is more recognizable than most of his fighters. He’s at the heart of every pay-per-view event, separating the world’s biggest, meanest fighters, at weigh-ins and press conferences.
Controversial Character
The game has been criticised in some parts because of the lack of payment fighters get from the UFC or EA even though their likenesses are being used. White has also been accused of not doing enough to promote his champions in the past, instead preferring to enhance his own marketability.
Tyron Woodley and Amanda Nunes are two champions who have suffered from under-promotion when they could potentially attract large fan bases. Woodley and White have directly feuded which is crazy considering the fact that the welterweight champion is so dominant at the moment.
Fight As White
For his part, White was pretty chill about it all. He laughed off the obvious jokes about fighters and fans getting a chance to get their own back over the divisive company president. He spoke to GameInformer.com:
“From what EA tells me, the fans have been asking for this for a long time. They asked me if I would be willing to do it and I said, ‘Yes, I think it’s great.’ It’s fun. And for all the people out there that have wanted to punch me in the face over the last 20 years, this is your chance.”
Well, there you go. What a sensational piece of marketing by EA. White, ever the businessman, has gone about selling this right way as well.

Crazy Stats
Is he actually worth playing as? You might be surprised – or not if you think about how he deals with his fighters. White’s stats are actually pretty good. He has better wrestling than Anderson Silva, better striking than Daniel Cormier, and better stamina than Lyoto Machida.
“As far as the technique goes in the game, they modeled me after a boxer because I have boxing experience,” White said. “But don’t be fooled, I have jiu-jitsu too, so don’t think that you’re going to take me to the ground and beat me up down there. My jiu-jitsu is actually pretty good, so you better be ready on your feet and on the ground.”
So there you have it. Incidentally White will be available to download as a light-heavyweight. Will you play with him and take over the division? Or will you get evil pleasure from getting him in the guillotine position and choking him out? What we would do to see him fight for real…
