Conor McGregor’s return might happen soon. That’s according to UFC CEO Dana White, who shared recently that the promotion is in talks with the fighter.
The return of McGregor to the UFC cage remains unknown, although the fighter’s team recently revealed that they are working on making it happen at UFC 300. Despite this, the Irish superstar earlier expressed frustration over the long delay of his return and blasted the promotion in relation to this.
“Give me something,” McGregor told Talk Sport Boxing days ago. “It was supposed to be April, (and before) it was supposed to be December. They never treated anyone – no one hass ever been treated (like this) for all the figures I’ve brought in this game.
“I sell more than all of them combined. I see more than all of them combined. No one in the history of the fight game has ever been treated the way I’m getting treated – to what I came through, to what I bring … I’m waiting, I’m waiting, and I’m waiting. My patience is wearing thin.
“Get me back in there. It’s f*cking bollocks. The Mac has loads to offer, loads to deliver. They’re talking Manny (Pacquiao). I don’t give a f*ck. They’re talking Manny here in Saudi. The lads in the UFC aren’t really talking any. So the lads here are talking Manny, and the UFC aren’t talking any.”
After airing the disappointment, it seems the promotion heard McGregor’s rant, pushing White to address it and pacify the fighter’s and fans’ growing impatience. In his recent Instagram Live this Wednesday, the executive shared an update about the matter, ultimately negating McGregor’s comment that the company is not “talking” or making any arrangements for his next bout.
“I talked to Conor today,” White shared. “I’m in Abu Dhabi right now, Conor’s in Dubai. We talked tonight. He and I will get something figured out soon. We’re talking.”
While no details were shared by White, this should provide a glimmer of hope to fans still waiting for McGregor to reenter the octagon. More importantly, this should give a bit of relief to Michael Chandler, who is still waiting to get his chance to fight “The Notorious.” Recently, “Iron” made another shot at McGregor online, suggesting the Irish is avoiding him.
