Jon Jones is in Legal Trouble Again… And Dana White is Not Surprised by the Latest Alleged Incident Involving His Light-Heavyweight Champion…

Jon Jones has all the talent in the world. Indeed, you could make a decent claim that he’s the best fighter in the world right now, if not the greatest MMA fighter of all time. Nobody has truly tested the New York native. Nobody, that is except for himself.

“Bones'” legal problems have been well-documented. He’s been banned from the UFC after testing positive for substances like turinabol. He once was involved in a hit-and-run with a pregnant woman. Oh, and he ran away from that. Now the Jackson-Wink fighter is facing a charge of battery after an alleged incident involving a strip club waitress.

UFC President Dana White has described his feelings about his top fighter. Basically, he’s not surprised at all. In an interview with Jim Rome, he explained his feelings about the volatile champion.

Not Surprised

There have been so many incidents involving Jones that it’s very difficult to keep track of them all. The most recent one before this was when the entire UFC 239 event was moved from Las Vegas to California on a week’s notice because the NAC wouldn’t grant Jones a licence to fight. White isn’t surprised by the latest story. He told Jim Rome:

“I’m kinda numb to it these days. I don’t even know what to say about it. It’s almost to be expected. I’m over being pissed. Every time Jon Jones fights, I think it might be his last fight because I just never know what will happen with Jon.

“There’s two sides to every story, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. They both have a side to this story, and I don’t know. Let’s see how it plays out with him.”

Waste

White spoke wistfully about Jones’s wasted talent. Sure, he’s the most successful light-heavyweight of all time, winning the title a record four times and never losing a title fight, but there’s no doubt that his life on the edge has damaged his marketability. Jones should have been a top tier draw like Conor McGregor, but he doesn’t have that level of fame. White said:

“It really is unbelievable how talented Jon Jones is. I say it all the time, and I will probably be saying it for the rest of my life — it’s sad to see what this guy could’ve accomplished. I think that Jon Jones could’ve been a Jordan-esque type figure for the sport.”

Charge

Jones has been charged with one count of battery after a strip club waitress alleged that he groped and attempted to kiss her in the Albuquerque venue. The married father-of-three is also accused of picking her up by the neck and choking her.

White is right, there are two sides to every story. But there’s no getting away from the fact that everywhere Jones goes, drama seems to be around the corner. It’s a pity that he can’t keep on the straight and narrow.
