Looks like Conor McGregor will be away far longer than first thought…
After UFC 205 one thing was very clear; the lightweight division would be held up for some time. Although the featherweight division was later freed up, the situation at 155 pounds became confusing.
Obviously Conor McGregor’s two-title win was very impressive, as he KO’d Eddie Alvarez like no-one before. Breaking arguably the holiest of UFC records, ‘The Notorious’ once again proved his worth.
Unfortunately for the other lightweights, McGregor’s win was not such a celebratory event.

Time For Vacation, Family
Finally announcing his long-rumoured break from the sport, Conor McGregor also revealed a bun in the oven. Carrying his baby, Dee Devlin would require the UFC’s top product to step away for a while.
At first McGregor’s announcement was a six-month leave of absence. According to Dana White, though, the slick spoken Irishman will be away a bit longer than that. During an interview with FOX Sports Jay & Dan today, the UFC president revealed all.

10 Months
“Conor is the best,” White told FOX Sports Live. “He’s got no fights, he’s taking 10 months off, he’s having a baby, and everybody’s still talking about him. He’s the best at it, nobody’s better.”
Also discussing his close friend Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, White’s interview is a great watch. The UFC president also broke news that he’d met with rapper 50 Cent in a restaurant, and the discussion quickly turned to Conor vs. Floyd.

“So I’m eating at this restaurant, and I see 50 Cent. He says ‘When is your boy fighting Floyd?’ I told him ‘Floyd doesn’t really want that fight.’ But he tells me that Floyd really wants it, he wants it more than anything.”
Considering White recently claimed he literally has no idea what’s next for McGregor, is this boxing match actually going to happen? Add in that ‘The Notorious’ just obtained a boxing license in California, and you have wild possibilities.
