Ronda Rousey may be the apple of the eye to many. She is considered the face of women’s MMA. But no one can deny Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino is the muscle that runs the place.
Before Rousey rose to stardom, Cyborg laid the foundation for female fighters in the sport of MMA. After years of being told that they “just weren’t good enough”, Cyborg bucked that trend.
Cyborg is just not a person to be messed with. She owns 15 knockouts in her 17 career victories, with 8 coming in the first round. In addition, she has held every major women’s MMA title outside the UFC.
Being on the UFC’s radar since Strikeforce folded in early 2013, Cyborg made a short but emphatic debut. She easily took out American fighter Leslie Smith just last May.
It only took Cyborg 81 seconds to get the job done. She dropped Smith with a solid left hook and a follow-up dynamite right cross. After, she swarmed Smith on the ground with heavy punches from above. This coupled with a volley of hammerfists causing referee Eduardo Herdy to halt the contest.
In her second Octagon outing, Cyborg effortlessly trounced Lina Lansberg with a volley of vicious strikes.
Many believe that Cyborg simply does not belong in the same league with her female peers. Fans feel she should be competing with men due to her incredible strength and physique.
Yet, how would she actually fare against the boys of the promotion?
Scrap Digest lists down the Five Male Fighters That Cyborg Would Eat Alive.
Dominick Cruz
Dominick Cruz is known to be the most agile fighter in MMA. This is courtesy of his lateral motion with precise, in-and-out striking. However, Cyborg could be the second fighter in history to put a dent in his impressive win-loss record.
Cruz is noted for his quick footwork, head movement and use of feints. However, Cyborg’s aggressiveness could be a serious problem for the UFC bantamweight titleholder. Cruz has simply not yet faced an opponent like the Brazilian women’s fighter.
Cruz had troubles in fending off ferocious fighters with superb wrestling backgrounds like Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez. He needed to squeeze himself through the eye of a needle to win.
Moreover, Cruz’s chin has not been tested by the 23 foes that he has battled in the past. With the firepower that Cyborg possesses, rocking and stopping Cruz is more than a possibility.
