It’s no secret that wrestling has been the Achilles’ heel of Conor McGregor. McGregor had a rough time when he squared off with Chad Mendes for the interim UFC featherweight strap in July 2015.

The 5-foot-6 Mendes opened a cut near McGregor’s right eye with a slashing elbow. He then piled on the punishment with ground-and-pound from inside guard in the first round.

After spending most of the second defending himself from his back, McGregor found a way to return to his feet. He then launched several straight left hands and a kick to the body to get the stoppage.

Although Cyborg is regarded as a well-versed striker, she has an outstanding background in both wrestling and submission grappling. Cyborg also holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Andre Galvao.

One loophole that Cyborg could capitalize on is McGregor’s gas tank. McGregor is notorious not just in his nickname, but also in the way he tires in long fights. Fans criticize McGregor for being merely a three round fighter.

Case in point, McGregor was gasping for air in the first fight with Nate Diaz before succumbing to the American’s rear-naked choke.

A stand-up warfare is expected if these two will meet. Both boast of a deadly striking background. But McGregor will have his hands full and gasping for air if he engages in a toe-to-toe trade with Cyborg.
