Well, Dana White is going to be furious…

After the non-stop talk of boxing vs. MMA last year, 2017 got off to an unexpected start. Although they fight in different sports and neither has crossed over before, Conor McGregor & Floyd Mayweather are building a storm.

Sending the media in to a frenzy, the two combat sports champions are coming closer to a clash. Earlier this year it was confirmed that ‘The Notorious’ had obtained a boxing license, and the reports continued to swirl.

Contract Agreement/Dispute

Reaching out to McGregor this week, Mayweather revealed he’d not only come out of retirement, but had also signed the contract to fight McGregor. Facing difficulties with his UFC contract, the former two-weight champ McGregor is yet to respond.

The UFC is infamous for keeping their fighters on a tight leash, but someone like ‘The Notorious’ will be hard to keep caged. According to the most recent report (below), the venue and date has been pencilled in for the heavily rumoured clash:

Las Vegas

Sources close to FloCombat have confirmed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has put the June 10 date on hold for the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

Hosting a number of UFC pay-per-views in the last seven months, the T-Mobile Arena is rapidly growing in to a popular fight venue. Unfortunately for Dana White and the UFC, they could be hosting the promotion’s biggest star.

For the world’s largest MMA promotion, this is not a good thing.

Thoughts

Having already offered both men a $25 million fight purse, Dana White is clearly interested in the fight. Clearly Mayweather wants nothing apart from a boxing match, and so a potential legal fight also lays ahead for ‘The Notorious.’

Making thins a little more heated, McGregor placed himself further in the dog house recently. Hosting a PPV interview in Manchester, the brash Irishman blasted the UFC during an irate rant.

Summed up: Keep an eye on June 10 folks.
