Deiveson Figueiredo is now officially a bantamweight fighter. The former two-time UFC Flyweight Champion made a successful debut in his new weight class by defeating Rob Font at UFC on ESPN 52.

“Deus Da Guerra” finished all three rounds of the bout and won via unanimous decision. Nonetheless, the difference between the performance of the two fighters was visible, with the judges giving them 30-27, 30-27, and 30-27 scores.
The victory not only allowed Figueiredo to redeem himself from his loss to Brandon Moreno in January but also opened a new journey for him in a new division.
During the bout, Deiveson sported his striking and grappling skills, allowing him to dominate the opponent in all rounds. Nonetheless, the fight wasn’t flawless at all for the Brazilian, who initially had issues with his striking range in the first round. Before the round ended, nonetheless, Figueiredo managed to deliver solid hooks.
The second round also favored Figueiredo, who continued to make shots at Font and tried several takedown attempts. In the third round, Font received a left hook when he tried to push Figueiredo back with his jabs. It was a powerful shot that pushed Font backward. The former flyweight fighter saw it as a chance to send more shots and successfully landed another huge one before Font tried a takedown. The rest of the round showed Figueiredo trying more submission attempts and sending more strikes, but the bell saved Font.
With this latest win, Figueiredo has found his new division at the UFC. “I feel great representing 135,” Figueiredo told Daniel Cormier through an interpreter during his post-fight interview. “I did some great things at 125, but I felt great at 135. This show tonight was for you.”
