We wish this was a joke, but Fedor’s next opponent has as much MMA experience as a regional tomato can…
Fedor Emelianenko is a living legend in the mixed martial arts world, and has fought some of the best competition during his prime years. Fellow all stars such as Mark Coleman, Mark Hunt, Mirko Cro Cop, Anotnio Rodrigo Nogueira and many others all fell at the hands of ‘The Last Emperor’ during his reign as Pride heavyweight champion.
The later stages of Fedor’s career was not as enjoyable for his fans or for the legendary heavyweight himself, as he suffered some seriously harsh losses.
The first real loss in Emelianenko’s career came in 2010 against the current UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. Fedor faced ‘Vai Cavalo’ under the now defunct Strikeforce banner, losing by triangle submission after just 69 seconds.
His next two losses were particularly difficult to swallow, as he got finished by strikes against the much smaller man Dan Henderson, and the giant Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva. Three wins against much lesser competition later, and Fedor called it a career in 2012.
After learning Emelianenko would be making a fighting comeback after three years of retirement, fans have been clamouring to learn who he’d be facing next. ‘TK’ Kosaka and numerous others got thrown around as potential opponents for ‘The Last Emperor,’ but nothing was confirmed until today.
