5. Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva
We thought we were going to get this fight, especially considering the two coached opposite each other on the Ultimate Fighter Brazil. The two even got into a brawl with each other during an episode.
Unfortunately we will never get to see the Axe Murderer take on Sonnen, as Wanderlei ended up running away from a drug test and being handed a lifetime ban as a result. Silva was going to be replaced in the fight by Vitor Belfort, but then Sonnen failed a drug test as well and ultimately retired.
Things get a little weirder in this story when it was rumoured that both Wanderlei and Sonnen were invited to an informal meeting with the WWE ahead of WrestleMania 31. Nothing seemed to come of it unfortunately, but it did look like the two might have a match or something in WWE, which wouldn’t have been too much different from some of the fights in Pride.
