If Conor wins he could continue to face other boxers, but he’d only face the boxers that could earn him the highest pay cheques, not the ones he’d like to test his skills against. If Floyd wins he’ll just go back to being retired. This bout serves no purpose from a purely sporting perspective.

This bout is Muhammad Ali vs. Antonio Inoki, even if it isn’t staged like that bout was. It is all spectacle, and anything sporting about it comes secondary to the main objective: make everyone involved richer than they already are.
